Well… I was unable to get my hands on a tree to plant and a place to plant it, however I was able to plant a couple flats of pole beans for the plot renters of the community garden run by the RSO I’m co-president of called Campus Grow. These beans will be transplanted into either the Plant a Row for the Hungry section of our garden or given to plot renters for them to plant and harvest in their own plots. My co-president and good friend Meghan helped me plant the seeds in flats in the greenhouse located on our campus. We have been checking and watering them for about a week or so now and they’re doing great.
Although we aren’t helping the earth’s oxygen levels any by planting a tree, we are helping to feed families and keep the garden going by planting these beans. I am excited to give the seedlings to a plot renter and some of the harvested vegetables to the local food pantry this coming fall!
